Polaris is delighted to have teamed up with a very worthwhile charity for 2019, the Trussell Trust.
The Trussell Trust’s aim is to end hunger and poverty in the UK. They support a nationwide network of food banks and together provide emergency food and support to people locked in poverty, and campaign for change to end the need for food banks in the UK.
The Trussell Trust support more than 1,200 food bank centres in the UK to provide a minimum of three days’ nutritionally-balanced emergency food to people who have been referred in crisis (for instance by advice agencies, GPs, social services and schools), as well as providing support to help people resolve the crises they face. Between April 2018 and March 2019, food banks in their network provided 1.6 million emergency food supplies to people in crisis, a 19% increase on the previous year.
It takes more than food to end hunger. The Trussel Trust bring together the experiences of food banks in their network, and their communities, to challenge the structural economic issues that lock people in poverty, and campaign for change to end hunger and poverty in the UK.
The Tom Smith range of Catering Crackers this year will feature three eco crackers with designs and sizes of crackers that are made from recycled materials and are fully recyclable. These three crackers will feature the Trussell Trust logo to help promote awareness of this pioneering charity. Polaris will donate £2.00 for every case of the charity crackers sold.
“This contribution will make a difference to the Trussell Trust by providing them with cash to help fund the operation of the charity,” commented Polaris Managing Director Paul Wilkes. “We will also be running companywide events during the year to help with donations. The first event saw a tremendous effort with 270kgs of food donated, a great start.”
Polaris are delighted with the uptake of the Trussell Trust branded crackers and is working within our Group of UK businesses to identify additional opportunities to support the Trussell Trust.
